What I did this week (Week 59)

Writing to you from Denver, Colorado.
After being on my last fire of the season in Oregon, I am now back in Denver for a few more days until I make the trip back down to Uruguay on the 23rd.
The week started off well.
I completed my 14 day assignment on the Willamette fire complex and my paramedic partner and I headed to our hotel for the night before we’d leave on the 16th.
Both of us were tired and ready to get off the fire which had pretty much been put to rest by a few days of rain and the burning operations we conducted.
To say that it was a boring fire the last couple days would be an understatement.
My partner missed his family and I’ve been more than ready to go back to Uruguay. Now, that’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy being on the fire. It always sucks a little bit - the food is pretty bad, you’re cold, hot, and often bored, but that isn’t a bad thing.
The experience is only made better because it sucks sometimes.
